Sigma Phi Lambda

Southwestern OK State university

alpha chi chapter

about us

We are a non-denominational Christian sorority that strives to glorify God. We still have all the events you would hope to see in a sorority, we just keep Christ at the center!

We are also a national sorority! This means there are other chapters of Sigma Phi Lambda across the country.

Sigma Phi Lambda was founded in 1988 at the University of Texas. The SWOSU - Alpha Chi chapter was established in 2021.

FAQ

Who can join Phi Lamb?

Any female student currently enrolled in SWOSU. All ages and denominations are welcome!

Do I have to be a Christian to join?

Nope! While we hope you find Christ during your time in Phi Lamb, we will meet you where you are without judgement!

If I come to recruitment, do I have to join a sorority?

Nope! While we hope you find a home in Phi Lamb, a lot of girls enjoy attending recruitment to meet friends!

What is the time commitment Phi Lamb requires?

Usually around 2-3 hours a week. We know that everyone is in and trying to balance school, so we allow flexibility in events and only require members to attend 75% of all events!

How much does it cost to be a member?

New members pay $215 their first semester, active members pay $200. We understand this can be a scary number, so we have financial assistance available, such as broken up payment plans! We never want money to be the reason you do not join. More info will be provided about financial assistance during meetings before a bill is presented to you. You can also reach out to us with any questions and concerns.

Why are dues set to these amounts?

What sets us apart when it comes to our dues is that you will not have to pay for events during the semester because your dues cover at all! The only thing you pay for are optional T-shirts and the presented dues. New members pay the extra $15 because they have events the active members do not attend.
